Hi folks, the purpose of this article is to provide you with information about Power Platform environments and how to create your own.
Environment types
Environments can be classified into several types. Microsoft offers six types of environments which are listed below:
- Default : Each tenant has a default environment that is created automatically. The default capacity is limited to 3GB Database, 3 GB File, 1GB Log. This environment type cannot be disabled or deleted.
- Developer : A Developer Plan license is required for creating a Developer environment. These environments have restricted control and cannot be assigned to security groups.
- Sandbox : This type of environment is not recommended for production. A sandbox environment can be utilized to use for development and testing. A 1 GB database free capacity on the tenant was required for creating a sandbox environment.
- Trial : Trial environments are intended for short-term testing needs and are cleaned up automatically after a short period of time. They have a 30-day expiration date and are restricted to one per user.
- Production : The production environment is designed for long-term employment in an organization. Unlimited access to premium features with the appropriate licenses and increased storage capacity. Access to production environment should be restricted by the use of security groups.
- Microsoft Dataverse for teams : No additional licenses are required for basic functionality. MS Dataverse for Teams is automatically created for a specific team after creating an app in MS Teams.
