Hi lads, in this short and targeted post, I’ll walk you through the process of creating your own free PFX Certificate for your development Power Pages site.
To proceed, ensure the following steps are completed:
- You have local admin access to your device.
- Download the win-acme tool.
- You can access your domain registrar management portal.
To begin, select option M: Create Certificate (Full Options).
On the second screen, select option 2: Manual Input.
Enter the custom domain you wish to use for your Power Pages site, such as build.ggrammatikos.com.
In the next step, select option 4: Single Certificate.
The verification process will be completed manually. You need to add a TXT record to your domain registrar’s DNS settings. This is why I chose option 6: [dns] Create verification records manually (auto-renew not possible).
I will choose the 2. RSA key, as it is the safest default option.
I have chosen option 3. PFX archive to store the PFX file. I used the PFX archive option and provided the path to create the file.
In the next step, I have selected option 2. Type/paste in the console to set a password for the exported .pfx file.
Next, I have chosen the 5th option, No (additional) store steps and on the step after that one, the 3rd option, No (additional) installation steps.
At this stage, the wizard provides the values for the TXT record that must be added to your domain registrar’s portal. Create the TXT record and then click to verify it.
The screenshot below depicts how to fill in the values for the TXT record type correctly.
