The purpose of this post is to walk you through the steps of developing a new Pay-as-you-go billing policy for the Power Platform.
Prerequisites
- A valid Azure subscription
- An empty Azure Resource group
- A Power Platform environment (Sandbox or Production)
- Have assigned one of the following roles – For more details about the roles and who can set it up check this link.
- Environment admin
- Power Platform admin
- Global admin
- Dynamics admin
Create a New billing policy
The first stage is to create a new billing policy, as it is a prerequisite for the link between the Power Platform environment and Azure subscription.
To begin with, from the Power Platform Admin Centre portal, tap on the left-hand side, Policies – Billing policies,
and choose + New billing policy
Type a Name for the new billing policy, i.e. MicrosoftAzureSponsorship and then tap Next.
Fill in the Azure subscription details, such as Azure subscription, Resource group, and Region, as the image below depicts and click Next.
Select environment(s) to connect to the new billing policy and click the Next button. (In this demo, there is no Production or Sandbox environment, so we choose the Next button)
The billing policy association with power platform environments is 1 to 1, i.e. one billing policy can link to an environment.
In the last step, after reviewing and verifying the information, tap on the Create Billing Policy button.
Billing policy provisioning will take a few minutes before this is complete.
After the provisioning is completed, the status will switch to Enabled.
You are now ready to use pay-as-you-go billing for the Power Platform dataverse environment(s).
